W. O'Malley, M.D.
Dr. O'Malley is Tom Thompson Distinguished Service Professor and Chairman
of the Department of Cell Biology at Baylor College of Medicine and Director
of the Baylor Center for Reproductive Biology. Dr. O'Malley has authored
over 400 scientific publications related primarily to studies of the molecular
mechanism of steroid hormone action, hormone receptors, reproductive hormone
regulation of synthesis of nucleic acids and specific proteins, and the
organization, structure and regulation of expression of specific eucaryotic
genes. He is the recipient of three honorary degrees, a member of the
National Academy of Sciences and has received numerous awards including
the Borden Award, Dickson Prize, Oppenheimer Award, Fred Conrad Koch Medal
and the D.R. Edwards Medal. Dr. O'Malley obtained his M.D. degree from
the University of Pittsburgh and has received honorary doctorates from
the New York Medical College and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm,
Sweden.
