Dr. Waun Ki Hong, head of M.D. Anderson's Division of Cancer
Medicine joins Agennix's Scientific Advisory Board For the past 17 years, Dr. Hong has held positions at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, including Chief, Head, Neck and Thoracic Medical Oncology; Professor of Medicine; the Charles A. LeMaistre Distinguished Chair in Thoracic Oncology; Chairman of the Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology; and his current role, Head of the Division of Cancer Medicine. Prior to his tenure at M.D. Anderson, he was an Associate Professor at Boston University School of Medicine; and Chief of Medical Oncology at Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Hong has received numerous honors and awards for outstanding research achievements throughout the years. This past March he was named President of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) for 2001-2002. In 2000 he was named the winner of the American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO) David A. Karnofsky Award; the AACR Joseph H. Burchenal Award; and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Health Memorial award. In addition Dr. Hong sits on the Subspecialty Board of Medical Oncology for the American Board of Internal Medicine; The Board of Scientific Advisors for the National Cancer Institute; and on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Kimmel Foundation on Cancer Research.
